January sales – a chance to get ahead
Many customers use the January sales to get items for the following Christmas, or for birthdays they have coming up. It’s an opportunity to pick up bargains and they’ll be buying things they mightn’t have treated themselves to pre-Christmas. They’ll have cash in their purses, often thanks to receiving monetary gifts, so many will feel able to shop ‘til they drop.
A fresh start
As a retailer, you need to get in on this, even if you don’t sell items on the luxury side. People still require socks, underwear and tights – as no one wants to go back to work wearing holey socks or knickers that have seen better days. For many, January is an opportunity to start again. They want to leave the house feeling energised and ready for the day ahead, and what they’re wearing has a lot to do with this.
Support underwear is hugely popular with women as it gives them an envious figure, even if they have overindulged over Christmas (don’t we all!!!) Children who began the school year with new socks and tights, will often have grown or their parents will simply decide to get them new for the new term – so you must have them in stock. Trainer socks and sports socks are popular with all ages and workmen will continue to want thermal wear as temperatures won’t be rising any time soon.
